All our courses are based on not just gaining the right theory, but also in developing skills. We have in every Diploma Course eight chapters and each chapter has at least two practical assignments in which students need to show that they understand and are able to use the theory from the course.
Project Cycle Management - 4 days training
In this training we will work on: Understanding of the project management cycle. How to perform a needs assessment in and with the community. How to use this needs assessment to plan your project and how to monitor. We will link this monitoring activity reports from community groups or field workers. The Project cycle management training will also focus on the participatory ways to include the community in planning and monitoring of their own projects and how to enhance capacity and ownership of the community.
Participatory monitoring and evaluation 3 days training
The goal is to to empower local people to initiate, control and take corrective action. In this course students will learn how to include local people in designing and adapting the strategy, collect and analyse data, share findings and link them to actions. Participants will also learn how to measure impact of programmes.
Strategic planning skills 4 days training
This training is focused on how to write a logic strategic plan, what is strategic thinking and analysing. How to write a good logframe, risk analysis and plan for outcome and impact results. In strategic planning we will look at output, outcome and impact, how to write this in a result chain and how to design activities that will bring a change within communities. The strategic planning will start with an explanation on how to collect your secondary and primary data for a situational analysis, or base line of the project and the strategic planning will be linked to this. We will teach how to write this up in a good proposal. In this training we will use the methods donors are using in their proposal formats. We will write up a professional monitoring plan with your organisation and teach you how to write your reports for donors and how to use your reports for your evaluation. We will look at different evaluations and which questions to ask during an evaluation and we will teach how to run an internal evaluation and how to involve community people in their evaluation of the projects.
Conducting base line surveys Two day training How to conduct a secondary baseline survey and use this as a foundation for your baseline survey in the field. What articles to use, how to read and get the right information, and how to use this information. Practical methods on how to conduct a base line survey in the field. How to interview and which questions to use Writing up a base line survey and use it as a situational analysis for your proposal/strategic programme planning.
Lobby and Advocacy 3 days training
Developing a lobby and advocacy strategy.
Using role plays in practising lobby and advocacy methods. Practising how to write a lobby message (creating a win-win) Understanding the target group and stakeholders in lobby Understanding what to lobby for, depending on the phase of the issue that the lobby is for. How to lobby with the community
